Week 16 — Weekly Chaos

A Documentary, Not a Joke

Team NameJoe Buck Yourself

Joe Buck Yourself. Let's start right there, with the name. A play on words, a little wink to Joe Buck, a command to go pleasure yourself. Clever. Except it stopped being a joke and became a documentary the moment he hit submit on a lineup with 48.1 points marinating on his bench while he, presumably, was taking the team name literally. 48.1 points just sitting there — not injured, not on bye, just ignored, like a fire extinguisher behind glass while the kitchen burns down.

The Obituaries

Not Tight in the End

Team NameHere for the Tight Ends 🍑

You really walked into a fantasy football league and named your team "Here for the Tight Ends 🍑" like that's a game plan and not a Grindr profile title. Then you scored 82.50 points and got bounced from the playoffs. And that's not the punchline. The punchline is the 15.20 points you left on your bench. You had Kenny Gainwell—his name is GAINWELL—sitting right there, ready to do the one thing you've been begging for all season, and you just... ignored him.

Week 12 — Weekly Chaos

Less Than a Congressman's Promise

Team NameShow Me Your TDs

First, there's a fella whose team's called Show Me Your TDs. Now, I'm not one to judge a man's team name, but when you call your squad Show Me Your TDs, you're already dancin' on the edge of bein' the punchline. I don't know what TDs means to him, but I got a feelin' it ain't touchdowns. He scored 107.15 points and got the axe. Self-sabotage, the report says. I don't know exactly what he did, but I can picture it: he looked at his lineup, he looked at his bench, he poured himself a whiskey, and he said "I think I'll start the guy who's listed as questionable and then be shocked when he scores less than a Congressman's promise." That's self-sabotage right there. He showed his TDs, and the league said "No thanks, we've seen enough," and dropped the guillotine. 107.15 ain't a terrible number if you're playin' in a league where a ham sandwich can start, but in a league called Left for Dead, that number gets you fitted for a toe tag.

What runs every week

Every one of these gets written up, not tabulated. Same voice, same contempt, every week, whether anything good happened or not.

Front page

Weekly Chaos
The week’s damage report. Highest score, lowest score, the man who won by accident, and the points you left rotting on your bench — counted out loud.

The Blotter

The Obituaries
Every team that loses gets a written cause of death. Nobody has ever agreed with theirs.
Financial Crimes
Your worst waiver-wire decisions, pulled out and priced — what you paid, what the next-highest bid actually was, and what the player did afterwards. The bidding was blind. The verdict is not.
Crimes Against Fantasy
Starting a player on his bye. Benching the one who went off for forty. Dropping a guy the week before he woke up. Each gets its own case file.
The Missing Persons Desk
For the manager who quietly stopped setting a lineup in October. Case opened, last known activity on file, and everybody gets to read it.

The Almanac

The Reach Registry
A receipt for every player you took two rounds early in the draft because somebody was about to take him. Nobody was about to take him.
The Fraud Index
How much of your season was luck, scored out of 100 and ranked. Wins donated by an opponent having their worst week, or chops you survived by a hair. Luck is not a skill.

The Permanent Record

The Grudge Report
Your entire head-to-head record against every person in this league, kept forever. It also names your rivalries. You do not get to pick the name.
The Trauma Archives
Every season your league has ever played, indexed by who it happened to. Including the year nobody talks about.

Public notices

Collusion Court
Submit the trade you are certain was a robbery. Receive a written verdict. There is no appeals process.

How you get in

1

One person connects the league. Every season it has ever played comes with it.

2

Everyone else makes an account and types their league username. Your teams attach themselves.

3

The AI writes the paper every week. No volunteer, no group-chat historian, nobody to forget. That’s the problem.

One person buys it. Everyone in the league gets it.
